Young Joon Kim is a junior in Columbia College (’20) majoring in Biology. He discovered his fascination with the sciences in pre-school through dinosaur and train encyclopedias. Although he appreciates the complexities of all the scientific disciplines, he has found a special affinity towards cancer biology while conducting leukemia research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for four years. Outside of his academics, he enjoys running, feasting, and occasionally diving into the Wikipedia rabbit hole.
Alice Sardarian is a sophomore in Barnard College (’21) majoring in Physiology & Organismal Biology. Within the Columbia University community, she is a volunteer EMT and NYS EMT skills instructor. She conducts research for a Neuroscience & Behavior lab and volunteers in Harlem with Community Impact’s Student Health Outreach. Alice enjoys morning runs, playing piano, frequenting vegan restaurants, and memorizing numbers – she holds a personal record of 404 digits of pi. One of her ultimate dreams is to work with Doctors without Borders.
Benjie Greenfield is a native of New York. At Columbia Engineering, he is a junior (’20) majoring in Biomedical Engineering, minoring in Computer Science, and is premed. On campus, he is involved with the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), Student Health Outreach (SHOUT), and Synthetic Biology Initiative. His interests include running and research on genetic engineering and peptidomics.
Cheryl Pan is a sophomore in Columbia College (’21) studying Neuroscience & Behavior. She has conducted research on rare genetic diseases and metabolic pathways that contribute to cell death. Currently, she is working on analyzing neurodevelopmental abnormalities and behavioral patterns of patients in a clinical study. In her free time, she enjoys bingewatching TV shows, iceskating, and exploring New York City’s dessert spots.
Enoch Jiang is a sophomore in Columbia College (’21) majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. He is searching for the best bread pudding in the city, and will always take food recommendations. Talk to Enoch about food (this is a recurring theme) and Bojack Horseman and anything, really.
Rafael Lippert is a sophomore in Columbia College (’21) studying Neuroscience and Behavior. He is currently involved in research on Developmental Neuroscience and is also devoted to studying Music, Literature, and Foreign Languages. As a Classical Voice and Piano performer, he partakes in the Columbia music scene through his jazz a cappella group, Uptown Vocal. Rafael has a penchant for Corgis, musical theatre, and tastefully self-deprecating humor.
Sarah Ho is a sophomore in Columbia College (’21) studying Neuroscience and Computer Science. She’s also passionate about sustainable development and making healthcare accessible to marginalized populations. Once she graduates, she hopes to become a doctor or work in public health. In her free time, you can find her eating toast or trying to finish a crossword without having to check her answers.
Serena Cheng is a sophomore in SEAS (’21) majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Applied Math and Statistics. She has done materials science and engineering research at the University of Texas at Dallas and has worked in the software engineering industry. Outside of class, she can be found napping or aspiring to be a chef at Bon Appetit.
Victoria Yang is a junior in SEAS (’20) majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Economics. In addition to being a CSR Editor, she is a Content Editor for CORE Impulse, Columbia’s entrepreneurship magazine, and is a TA for Data Structures. In her free time she enjoys writing and watching Netflix.
