Alice Sardarian is a junior in Barnard College (’21) majoring in Physiology & Organismal Biology. Within the Columbia University community, she is a volunteer EMT and NYS EMT skills instructor. She conducts research for a Neuroscience & Behavior lab and volunteers in Harlem with Community Impact’s Student Health Outreach. Alice enjoys morning runs, playing piano, frequenting vegan restaurants, and memorizing numbers – she holds a personal record of 404 digits of pi. One of her ultimate dreams is to work with Doctors without Borders.
Sarah Ho is a junior in Columbia College (’21) studying Neuroscience and Computer Science. She’s also passionate about sustainable development and making healthcare accessible to marginalized populations. Once she graduates, she hopes to become a doctor or work in public health. In her free time, you can find her eating toast or trying to finish a crossword without having to check her answers.
Benjie Greenfield is a native of New York. At Columbia Engineering, he is a senior (’20) majoring in Biomedical Engineering, minoring in Computer Science, and is premed. On campus, he is involved with the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), Student Health Outreach (SHOUT), and Synthetic Biology Initiative. His interests include running and research on genetic engineering and peptidomics.
Cheryl Pan is a junior in Columbia College (’21) studying Neuroscience & Behavior. She has conducted research on rare genetic diseases and metabolic pathways that contribute to cell death. Currently, she is working on analyzing neurodevelopmental abnormalities and behavioral patterns of patients in a clinical study. In her free time, she enjoys bingewatching TV shows, iceskating, and exploring New York City’s dessert spots.
Enoch Jiang is a junior in Columbia College (’21) majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. He is searching for the best bread pudding in the city, and will always take food recommendations. Talk to Enoch about food (this is a recurring theme) and Bojack Horseman and anything, really.
Serena Cheng is a junior in SEAS (’21) majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Applied Math and Statistics. She has done materials science and engineering research at the University of Texas at Dallas and has worked in the software engineering industry. Outside of class, she can be found napping or aspiring to be a chef at Bon Appetit.
Victoria Yang is a senior in SEAS (’20) majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Economics. In addition to being a CSR Editor, she is a Content Editor for CORE Impulse, Columbia’s entrepreneurship magazine, and is a TA for Data Structures. In her free time she enjoys writing and watching Netflix.
Young Joon Kim is a senior in Columbia College (’20) majoring in Biology. He discovered his fascination with the sciences in pre-school through dinosaur and train encyclopedias. Although he appreciates the complexities of all the scientific disciplines, he has found a special affinity towards cancer biology while conducting leukemia research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for four years. Outside of his academics, he enjoys running, feasting, and occasionally diving into the Wikipedia rabbit hole.
Anna Christou is a junior in Columbia College (’21) from Washington, D.C. She is majoring in biology, concentrating in psychology, and is on the pre-med track. She has conducted cancer research for the past four summers at the National Institutes of Health and does research on development and signaling in c. elegans on campus during the year. In addition to CSR, she is involved with AMSA and is a TA for Physiology. In her free time, she enjoys watching Friends, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
Linghao Kong is a sophomore in Columbia College studying neuroscience and computer science. He is currently on the pre-med track but is also very interested in aerospace. On campus, in addition to participating in CSR, Linghao is a member of the Columbia Space Initiative as part of the RASC-AL mission. He is currently researching active translation in dopaminergic neurons at the Peter Sims Lab at CUMC. In his free time, Linghao enjoys taking care of his plants, playing basketball, and meticulously cleaning every corner of his room.
Emily Sun is a freshman in Columbia College (23’) planning to major in Neuroscience and Behavior. She has most recently conducted research regarding potential Parkinson’s Disease treatments at the University of Chicago and hopes to continue positively impacting the scientific community at Columbia. In addition, she enjoys playing tennis, listening to music, and going on spontaneous explorations. She is easily wooed by small children and fluffy animals.
Jeffrey Luo is a sophomore in SEAS (’22) planning to major in Operations Research with a minor in Computer Science. He is fascinated by the computational sciences and the applications of machine learning, having previously conducted research in computer vision and computational chemistry. As a native of New York City, he loves to sample new cuisines and explore the city’s urban parks. In his free time, he also enjoys hiking the trails of Bear Mountain.
Ethan Wu, originally from Taipei, Taiwan, is currently a freshman in SEAS (’23) planning to study Computer Science. Outside of CSR, he is also a member of the Taiwanese American Student Association and the Columbia University Lion Dance troupe. In his spare time, you may find him in a random Butler reading room struggling with the Guardian’s latest cryptic crosswords or ornithophobically dodging pigeons on his aimless walks around Morningside Heights.
Rachel Powell is a sophomore in Barnard College (’22) planning to major in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Science. In her free time, she enjoys getting coffee with friends, solving crossword puzzles, listening to music, and exploring the city.
