David Dai is a junior at Columbia College (’17). He plans on majoring in Neuroscience or Biochemistry. Born in Manhattan, Kansas, he finds it slightly amusing that now he can call both the Little Apple and the Big Apple his homes. David is an avid swimmer, soccer player, and Game of Thrones enthusiast. One day, he aspires to become a neuroscience researcher and/or a physician.

Audrey Shi is a junior at Columbia College (’17) double majoring in Biology and Statistics. In her spare time, she loves exploring coffee shops, watching TV shows, reading books and news articles, decorating her room, and listening to music. On campus, she is also involved with the TCC At Your Service Volunteer Program and the Double Discovery Student Organization. She hopes to one day visit Europe, as well as pursue a career in medicine and/or data science.****

Nikita Israni is a freshman in Columbia College (’19) planning to major in Evolutionary Biology of the Human Species. In her spare time she enjoys exploring different musical genres, taking free yoga classes in the city, and watching crime-solving TV shows. She also loves to travel and hopes to pick up as many languages as possible during her adventures abroad. She hopes to one day pursue a career as a physician or medical research scientist.

Tiffany is a freshman in SEAS (’19) planning to major in chemical or biomedical engineering. Her interests include visual arts and design, early medieval history, and exploring the many parks throughout the city. She hopes to someday work in the biotechnology industry or to pursue a career in medical practice or research.

Claire Huang is a junior in Columbia College (CC ’17) studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She loves animals and is interested in conservation field work research in marine ecosystems. Through her art, she hopes to bring people closer to different parts of nature. On a typical day, you can find her playing on the badminton team, decorating her room with newly acquired posters, and tagging bad photos of friends on Facebook. She also loves music, judging books by their covers in the library (and then reading them), and watching anime.

Michelle Vancura is a freshman in Columbia College (’19) and is a prospective Chemical Physics major. Outside of science, she likes running, listening to music, and eating. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in research.

Nair Photo

Aditya Nair is a junior in Columbia College (’17). He is majoring in either biochemistry or biophysics. He spends most of his time conducting research at CUMC, where he researches the neuronal mechanisms of sexually dimorphic behaviors. In his spare time, Aditya enjoys playing, watching, and following soccer. Aditya is also an avid board game fan.





Tina Liu is a junior in Columbia College (‘17) majoring in Environmental Science. Aside from her paleoclimate research at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, she spends her free time as an amateur poet, avid reader and blogger, and philosophy enthusiast. She dabbles in language and astronomy, plays flute, trumpet, and basketball, listens to country music, and watches crime dramas. But most of all, she loves to use her imagination and listen to or tell silly stories.




Channing Prend is a junior in Columbia College (’17) majoring in Earth Science and concentrating in Math and East Asian Studies. He works at a geophysics lab at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory researching the distribution of carbonate in deep sea marine sediments. Channing is also a proud New Hampshirite and enjoys hiking, fishing, and kayaking.
